Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association (WIBCA) will induct a great Class of 2024 at their July banquets.
The Eastside ceremony in Spokane at the Karen Gaffney Room at Gonzaga University on July 16 will honor head coaches Ron Cox (Lakeside Nine Mile Falls) and Jay Webber (North Central High School). Also Inducted will be Ron Livingston (East Valley-Yakima) as an assistant coach. For his many years of service in the Yakima Valley State Basketball Tournaments, Rich Austin (Yakima Valley Sports Commission) will receive the Ed & Shirley Pepple Service Award. The Pat Fitterer Positive Coaching Award will be given to Garrick Phelps (University High School).
The July 17 Westside banquet, at the Cowlitz County Event Center in Longview, will fete two head coaches: Rex Stanley (Napavine H.S.) and David Long (Columbia River H.S.). Two assistant coaches, Steve Kloke (Mark Morris H.S.) and Jim Sevall (Columbia River H.S.) will be inducted. The Ed & Shirley Pepple Service Award will be presented to Kirc Roland (Longview). Kasey Ulim (Port Angeles H.S.) will be presented the Pat Fitterer Positive Coaching Award. A special award will be presented Gavin Cree (Mercer Island H.S.) as our State’s nominee, the National John Wooden Award.
