WIBCA Selects 2 for Hall of Fame

Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association (WIBCA) has selected 2 coaches for induction to their Hall of Fame at their 44th annual banquet.  The celebration will be held on Thursday, July 25 at the Wenatchee Convention Center and will fete two coaches from the North Central region, Mike Carlquist (Almira/Coulee-Hartline, Goldendale, Cashmere, Okanogan) and Tim Taylor (Brewster).  The Brooklyn Nets’ Joe Harris, reigning NBA 3-point contest winner, will receive the Ed Pepple Service Award for his efforts to improve high school basketball.  The July 25th banquet begins with a social hour at 5PM followed by buffet dinner and induction ceremony.  Cost for [...]

The recent calendar year was a memorable one for WIBCA and its member coaches and student-athletes. WIBCA, the Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association, was founded in 1974 and is the exclusive association of high school boys’ basketball coaches across the state of Washington. We are a non-profit organization and operate under the umbrella of the Washington State Coaches Association. Annually, the number of events, activities, and awards that WIBCA hosts, promotes, and sponsors continues to grow, all in the name of providing services and benefits to our membership of coaches and their student-athletes. WIBCA’s 6th annual basketball clinic Recap

WIBCA’s 6th annual basketball clinic held in Yakima was again a great success!  UW’s Mike Hopkins and Dave Rice headlined the event to a captive audience of 150 plus coaches sharing their wisdom and years of experience in addition to Coach Hopkins famous 2-3 Syracuse zone.  Four drawing winners…1 received a $8000.00 SHOOTAWAY GUN, 2 a subscription to FASTMODEL SPORTS and 1 a $200.00 recipient of tickets from PLAY2WINTIX!  Both Friday and Saturday culminated with great coaching collaboration at socials at local establishments. Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association (WIBCA) has selected 4 coaches for induction to their Hall of Fame at their 43rd annual banquet. The celebration will be held on Tuesday, July 24 at the Nile Country Club in Mountlake Terrace, will fete three Snohomish County coaches: Marv Morris (King’s, Shorewood, Shorecrest), Nalin Sood (Mountlake Terrace) and Larry Walker (Lewis & Clark High School, Everett CC). Hal Williams, longtime assistant coach at Tenino High School, will be inducted as an assistant coach.
