Coach Scott Orness returned to Bainbridge High School in 2025, the same year he was inducted into the WIBCA Hall of Fame, recognizing his outstanding coaching career and contributions to Washington basketball. Before returning to Bainbridge, Orness led North Kitsap High School for nine seasons (2015–2024), guiding the Vikings to nine consecutive Olympic League titles, four District Championships, nine State Tournament appearances, and the 2020 State Championship. His teams also set a 65-game home winning streak, the longest in Kitsap County history. At Bainbridge (2001–2015), Orness’s teams were perennial contenders, highlighted by the 2007 Spartans’ run to the State Championship Game. Over his career, 30+ former players have gone on to compete in college basketball. Coach Orness has earned numerous honors, including WIBCA 3A and 2A Coach of the Year, NFHS Regional Coach of the Year (2020), and Kitsap Sun Coach of the Year multiple times.Off the court, he is the Owner and Director of Orness Basketball Camps and a founder of Bainbridge Roots Basketball and DRIVE Basketball.
